Beware of Google Maps sending you down rutted muddy roads where you are likely to break an axle or get a flat then end up in the labyrinthine village built for pedestrians not cars. Oy. Best to use an old school REAL map. You have been warned.
One of my favorites place in Ardèche. When is burning hot, this forest offers a good way to spent some time walking by the shade of the trees. Its labyrinth looking paths are a cool way to entertain children. You have 3 circuits at your disposal, the yellow one is definitely the best with the view over the Chasezac river at the top of the cliffs. (Beware of you have children it could be dangerous). My recommendation would be to take half the blue circuit and half the yellow circuit by the cliffs. The place is a little crowded on July and August so recommend to go early because parking is limited.
Surprisingly nice Parc with many rocks which you can climb on, over and through.

Magical forest
We did the long hike proposed by our application, 14km / 4:30 with meal break and additional break for our dogs (5 years old and the other 6 months) easy hike, some nice places (Le cèze, le labirynthe with a small caving part...) otherwise the trails are not particularly captivating or nourishing, woods and "scrubland", Nevertheless it makes a great hike to spend a day!
Be careful of some slippery passages near the Cèze.
Always a pleasure to walk there.
Long hikes lasting several hours, nothing better to reconnect with nature.
Nice meetings too
We did this walk (1.5 km) with three children (7, 9 and 11) in normal shoes (sneakers). It was very easy to do, very fun and beautiful! A large part is shaded, but here and there you also catch the sun (so sunscreen in sunny weather is not an unnecessary luxury). Also take plenty of water with you.
What's extra nice is that you can sometimes choose short stretches for an "alternative route" (indicated with a dotted line). This route is a bit more crawling, climbing and scrambling. The children who are ready choose that route, while the other children take the 'normal' route. After a few minutes you will be back on the same route.
